Upon meeting with Dr Steven Adair, he will take a medical history, may perform a physical examination and may recommend hormonal blood tests to determine menopause is the correct diagnosis. Upon confirmation Steven will be able to offer you support to help you through the stages of menopause.

Menopause can be helped with many therapies including:

  • Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
  • Testosterone Gel Therapy
  • Oestrogen Therapy
  • Non-Hormonal Treatments
  • Counselling

These therapies can all be explained in detail by Steven at your consultation.

Complementary and alternative therapies should be discussed with Steven at your consultation to confirm they are safe for your use prior to commencement as many complementary or herbal therapies can cause medication interactions which may be harmful.

Lifestyle changes can be an additional treatment therapy for those experiencing menopause. Some options that may reduce the severity of symptoms include:

  • Drinking cold water and staying in a cool room to reduce the impact of hot flushes
  • Identifying factors such as food and beverages that trigger hot flushes and avoiding these where possible
  • Using water – based vaginal lubricants to assist with vaginal dryness and discomfort
  • Reducing your stress levels
  • Getting adequate sleep
  • Maintaining regular exercise and healthy eating to help reduce stress and symptoms
  • Maintaining Kegel exercises to help strengthen your pelvic floor and to improve urinary incontinence

While menopause is unavoidable it does not need to cause disruption to your life. There are many treatment options available that can be discussed with Dr Steven Adair.
